‘Musicians Tip Jar’ Podcast Introduces Valuable Career Strategies For Rising Artists
BOULDER, CO (February 16, 2021) - Colorado-based music industry vets Chris Webb and Dave Tamkin are launching their innovative music business podcast Musicians Tip Jar on February 16. On the show, Tamkin and Webb discuss the process of earning an income as a musician and the strategies for creating assets from art. "We want to build a culture of informed musicians who no longer feel they need a big shiny label to ‘make it’ as a musician or band,” says Webb. “We are living in the greatest do-it-yourself age in history for musicians and we want to bring that to the dinner table.”
Both Tamkin and Webb come from decades of experience with musicians, live music, and the business behind the shows. Tamkin combines his collaborative management style with an energetic focus on networking and developing strategic partnerships. In addition to his online marketing skills, Tamkin acquired more than 20 years of music industry experience including networking, branding, and promotions through touring nationally as a singer-songwriter. With over 26 years of music business experience, Webb creates music for moments and messages. He averages over 200 shows per year and is always in demand for special events and projects. Webb has played with many talented musicians, from Sister Hazel to Louden Wainwright, and sold-out crowds at venues like the Hard Rock Chicago and the Boulder Theater. Together, the two hosts provide priceless tips and tricks for listeners to expand their music career and create real fuel for their passions.
Exploring methods and strategies to help musicians create a steady cash flow from their talents and long-term passive income sources, the two hosts take out the mystery of how musicians can make money without sacrificing their art and passion. "Chris and I started talking about this idea over 7 years ago. We were both teaching music and playing out as much as we could. We listed all our strategies on a whiteboard and thought it would be helpful if we could share our ideas and bounce them off of other musicians,” says Tamkin. “This pandemic gave us the time to organize and develop the Musicians Tip Jar podcast so we can share our thoughts on music and money. It also gives musicians a platform to discuss and ask questions about finances. Hopefully, we can be of some help and the connection for musicians to find the answers they are looking for."
