“Money Back” - JD Eicher
By: Tessa Barker
The versatile JD Eicher is currently picking up steam as a singer/songwriter who has got something to say. With a timeless writing style similar to the likes of Maroon 5 and Andy Grammer, Eicher has a flair of originality in his genre crossing tunes. Because of his ability to blur the lines of pop, R&B, and country, Eicher’s music caters to all.
“Money Back” is just that. A genre-bending and clever take on a hard topic the song holds lyrics like “Finally understanding Love is Love” and the memorable chorus “I don’t want my money back, I just want some change.” Although the song is melodically pleasing to the ear and easy to listen to, Eicher calls out the broken systems in America making the song hit that much harder. “Money Back” was originally released with his 2019 album Songs from Before but was re-released with his single “History,” in support of the Black Live Matter Movement in the summer of 2020.
Eicher is trailblazing on his agenda, one that includes speaking out against injustice and lifting others' voices through a songwriting competition he created in his hometown. You can support his music just by listening or by visiting his Patreon.
